Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Good parking. Quiet neighbourhood (in general not much traffic, but Waldstrasse does get used by traffic to and from uphill neighbours and cars and trucks drive by very closely to building). Layout and choice of materials of interior of apartment 17a is very roomy and tasteful (by accident we had first wrongly walked into one of the other large apartments and were very turned off by either its layout and design). Comfortable furniture. Big TV. Roomy bathroom. Good kitchen. Outside window screens functioned well.
Negative: 1. Wifi totally sucks. Don’t count on it. We used cellular service only, fortunately with good strength in that area. 2. Shower is nice, but you stand in bathtub. Not everybody would be comfortable with stepping in or out. 3. Couples might like a double bed. The two bedrooms each had two single beds. My wife had not come along, but she would not have wanted to stay in this aparment, in spite of it otherwise being very nice. 4. Coffee is now Senseo (a supply of pads had been provided). Photo’s had shown drip style coffee maker and so we had unnecessarily brought the wrong style coffee. The nearest grocery is Aldi in Westerburg at 3 km away. 5. More seriously: Outside door is shared by two apartments. It can be locked, which our upstairs neighbour frequently did, with key. However, if you forget your key and your own apartment door (also only accessible with key) falls closed behind you, you find yourself completely trapped in the hallway. This happened to me twice (fortunately my son was still inside and answered to my knock on the door) and is absolutely unacceptable, especially, but not only, in case of fire or other emergency. We understand the need of security, but one must always be able to vacate a hallway and building without the need of a key!
Summary: Very nice apartment in town that gets easily overlooked
